Presented by Music@Menlo at Menlo-Atherton Performing Arts Center

    July 15 - August 5, 2017

    Music@Menlo 2017

Now in its 15th year, Music@Menlo brings a new series of chamber music celebrating the violin. Performed by a collection of the world’s great chamber musicians, a series of programs traces the history of Western music through the violin’s pioneering players and their synergy with the great composers. This masterfully curated experience also features multimedia lectures, interactive discussions, master classes and free institute performances. Clsoing out this year's festival, Program V: French Luminaries (July 28 & 29) includes works by French viruosi, among them Jean-Marie Leclair, Ysaye, Debussy and Fauré; Program VI: The Age of Expression (Aug 2) shines a light on the virtuosi that emerged in the early 20th century, headed by Fritz Kreisler, featuring music by Borodin, Respighi, Ysaÿe, and Kreisler himself; and Program VII: National Flavors (Aug 5) offers a colorful survey of violin playing across the Western world.
